The story is continuing now. As some who have been reading know, its always got a cliffhanger. So now, I fix the last one. I hope you like.
The horde paused. The order seemed absurd. Yet looking to the elder, they seemed to understand. They began the sprint towards Stygian, drawing their weapons mid way.
Stygian, befuddled, was struck with a look of utter disbelief. He couldnt comprehend what they dont understand.
What did I do?!
Demon, you fool no one. Stop pretending. Your sherade showed through when you cast no reflection in the Holy Challis. All men bear image on such things. Now go back to the pit you came from!
Stygian was deeply confused but had little time to think. I need to explain everything to them, allow them to see. But the horde was not faltering in their mad dash for vengeance. Stygian had precious little time left, and started to devise ways to get out of this. But nothing useful came to mind. Realizing deaths second coming upon him he gave up. He was out done, and he knew he could not keep living with this pain.
As his spirit finally gave way to loss, he repeated the only thing he could think of.
Let there be night , and everything began covered in a gray film. Though he could see most clearly, everyone else was stumbling as though in complete darkness. They looked like he mustve when he died. What had truly happened? He decided to think this over elsewhere. He ran to the back of this room only to remember that there was only one entrance. Sensing urgency he continued towards the think wall. To his surprise and praise, the wall crumbled as he barreled through it. He was free. To the forest sanctuary, he needed time to second-guess what had just happened.
When he reached what he believed to be the clearing, he stopped. He didnt bother wasting time to catch his non-existent breath. He was forced to look at everything again. He examined from his arms to his shoulders. They seemed normal for having just busted through a temple. His legs the same, as is the case with the torso. He checked it all and found nothing different. Then it hit him. He slowly brought his hands to his face afraid of the numerous and infinite possibilities of what could be there. Nothing. He felt along his hair and scalp. Everything was fine. He then felt his cheeks, his chin, his eyebrows, and nose. Everything was yet again just as it always had been. Then he finished the test. He felt his mouth. Outside was fine. Then he felt the teeth inside. As he did he screamed out in horror. He had changed!
He had become like the Cursed Knight. He had become a tool of evil. His screams filled the air with a sullen tone. Suddenly, Stygian stopped screaming. His screams had attracted the attention of a search party. He looked between the trees and saw his army looking for him. He looked out in the clearing, and paused.
Let there be night.
And a dark cloud appeared. His eyes grew in shock. He then tried to picture in his mind the cloud disappearing. And it did. Stygians mind reeled. This was not possible. It was to much to comprehend. His mind went around in circles for what seemed like an eternity. Then, as if the Gods told him a whisper, it stopped.
His mind stopped trying to understand and instead worked on coping with it. Stygians unconscious was trying to take over. It seemed almost as an actual force inside him. Something that yearned to be released. Fearing what it could do, Stygian held it back with all his will. Try as he might, he could not fully tame the foul beast inside his mind. He felt some of the being escape before he could fully control it. He wondered what would happen now. It appeared to be nothing. He was just overly worrying. Nothing was in his mind. Well, one down. Now to the army problem. He turned to look around the tree again. Horror filled his eyes again. He saw a warrior standing there, directly before him.
Stygian would have screamed had something inside not stopped him. He could do no more then stand and await his fate. The warrior looked directly at Stygian. The tortured hero could do nothing. But the, the unexpected happened, the warrior looking at Stygian turned and began looking elsewhere. Stygians mind tried to grasp some semblance of how this could be possible. Then it him. The being inside him. He felt a little escape, painfully. It must have done something. It feels the same queasy feeling as the darkness. But how can someones unconscious defend and fight to break free? This would take time to learn. He paused to regain his composure. Taking one last look to the sky, Stygian thinks what he believes to be his last prayers. After he finishes, he concentrates. He checks for that unsettling feeling that he believed saved him. It was still there.
Its now or never he thought. Still moving slowly, he walks into the path of one of the patrolling warriors. The man looks towards Stygian. This time though, Stygian looked back. The warriors eyes were looking his direction, yet focusing on something far past Stygian. Feeling more confident now, Stygian did what he could think of as simply, the last option. He slowly made his way out of the forest and looked to the sky. Finding the appropriate star, he begins his long trek to a place he vowed never to go.
hope you enjoyed.
Stygian is your fate. Embrace it now or forever wish you had...
